The Brooks Clinic serves as the official “water partner” and triage medical team for Edmond’s Liberty Sprint – one part of one of the nations largest 4th of July celebrations.
Celebrated annually in Edmond, Oklahoma, Liberty Fest draws patrons from all over the state and has received national acclaim. One part of the week long activities is the Liberty Sprint – a qualifying 5K and fun run that benefits charities around the country.
Liberty Sprint benefits the The Travis Manion Foundation, which honors fallen heroes and their families for the extraordinary sacrifice these soldiers and others have made. Marine Corps 1st Lt Travis Manion gave the ultimate sacrifice on April 29, 2007, on his second deployment to Iraq. While on patrol searching for a suspected insurgent house in Fallujah, Travis, his fellow Marines, and Iraqi Army counterparts were ambushed. Travis led a counterattack against enemy forces, drawing fire away from his wounded comrades and allowing every member of his patrol to survive. For his actions, he was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor. Today, over 300,000 Spartans nationwide carry forward the legacy of fallen heroes like Travis by leading with character and living out the “If Not Me, Then Who…” ethos.
During the event, The Brooks Clinic team was there to support medical needs and to provide water and bananas to race participants. Employees manned the tent, talking with people about their auto accident experiences and provided helpful insight to families who may someday experience an auto accident. Building bridges to people who may one day need us is one of the things we value most.
