Did you know in the US, about 1 in 31 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder by the time they turn 8, according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
One of our most cherished team projects is Autism Walk fundraiser. More than half of our employees turn out each year, rain or shine, on a Saturday morning to walk with friends and family members to support Autism Oklahoma. We recognize that as a serving provider in our community, we share a certain responsibility to support families as they go through sometimes challenging situations.
According to the Autism Oklahoma website: Autism Oklahoma was founded by parents in Oklahoma to improve quality of life and create opportunities for our loved ones with autism. We provide a platform for parents, providers, professionals and community partners who have a heart to serve families affected by autism. Creating unique opportunities is our secret for Quality of life, for life!
In 2026, we joined the trend and created our own Autism Awareness t-shirts, with the theme: Clarity is Kindness. Our own employees designed the shirts and chose the theme. We had more than 60 people sporting the shirts as with gathered with teams from all over the state.
In 2025, the day started out rather crazy, with Oklahoma City weathermen calling for intermittent showers and possible severe weather. By 9:30, walkers from all over the metro assembled to walk in the Autism Oklahoma Walk to support friends, family members and complete strangers. By the time the walk started at 10am, more than 35 TBC teammates gathered together to walk wearing bright blue Brooks Clinic tshirts. The rain cleared just in time to line up at the starting gate. The team laughed, posted to social media and made friends with kids and families met along the way. We also raised a bit of money to support the cause too – coming in 18th out of more than 350 teams. What an honor it was to be a part of it all.
